CaSSECS: First meeting of the Steering Committee

The first meeting of the Steering Committee of the CaSSECS project was held by videoconference and in person in Dakar on 9 December 2021. Nine (09) partner institutions of the project took part in this meeting.

In early November, a multidisciplinary team (forester, botanist, ecologist, soil scientist) collected data on 17 sites in south-eastern Senegal. The sites were mapped using a drone. More than 800 trees were measured, 150 soil samples were taken and 92 biomass measurements were made. In addition, more than 220 herbarium collections were carried out in order to identify species and to enrich existing herbarium collections.

ISRA: CaSSECS and PPZS launch the first edition of the "My thesis in 180 seconds" competition

The CaSSECS Project and the Pastoralism and Drylands Pole Partnership Research and Teaching Facility (PPZS dP) launched the first edition of the "My thesis in 180 seconds" (MT180) competition for their postgraduate students on 22 and 23 September 2021. The presentations took place both in person and "online".

CaSSECS: Tree and shrub sample collections in the Ferlo of Senegal

During the field missions carried out this summer by UCLouvain in the Ferlo (Senegal), samples of trees and shrubs were collected. These collections were dried and mounted on herbarium plates in collaboration with Samantha Bazan, curator of the ALF herbarium (CIRAD).

CaSSECS: Coordination team in Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso for a working visit.

From 03 to 06 August 2021, the CaSSECS Project coordination team based in Dakar, made a working visit to Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso, areas of intervention of the project. The objective of this visit was to strengthen the coordination and scientific facilitation of CaSSECS activities in Burkina Faso.

Visit of the CaSSECS Coordination in Niamey: Project activities reviewed

The CaSSECS Project coordination team has started since 31 July 2021, a working visit for the coordination, monitoring & evaluation and communication of the activities carried out in Niamey, Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso, areas of intervention of the Project.
